Breaking News: A 25-year-old Ukrainian man has this evening (July 22) been charged with the terrorist-related murder of Birmingham pensioner Mohammed Saleem. Pavlo Lapshyn, a post graduate student from Dnipropetrovsk, will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow. Lapshyn – who has been in the UK on a sponsored work placement - was detained last Thursday (July 18) by local West Midlands Police officers as part of a counter terrorism investigation into two explosions near mosques in Walsall and Tipton. Following his arrest, evidence of a third blast was found near a mosque in Wolverhampton. The suspect was then arrested on Saturday (July 20) on suspicion of the murder of Mr Saleem. The 75-year-old grandfather was fatally stabbed in April as he walked home alone after worshiping at a mosque in Small Heath. Lapshyn continues to be questioned about the offences at the mosques.
