Breaking News: Edo House of Assembly sat today in plenary under the leadership of the deputy speaker, Hon. Festus Ebea. The assembly congratulated the gov for his U-turn on the competency test but adviced that all the allowances and salaries of the affected 928 teachers must be paid from december to date. They also resolved that EDSG must stop all illegal deductions from LG account/allocations and asked all LG chairmen to bring receipt of monies received from May 2013 to date to be forwarded to EDHA and invited the commissioner for LG and chieftaincy affairs to come and render accounts to the house. They also expressed surprise at the renovation in the assembly as it wasnt discussed at POC(principal officers committee) and wondered who authorised such. It therefore frooze the accounts of EDHA held in commercial banks in Benin. It suspended the 8 members who caused the assembly to be relocated to the governors office and declared null and void all resolutions and decisions reached at the illegal meeting. Sitting was adjourned to tuesday, 8th of July, 2014!
