Breaking News: Gunmen attack Ekiti APC secretariat Gunmen, alleged to be loyal to Governor Ayo Fayose, on Wednesday evening stormed the Ekiti State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress. According to a statement by Wole Olujobi, the media aide to the embattled Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, sporadic gunshots rented the air as the gunmen arrived at the secretariat. They were said to have come in four Hilux vans and a car. Party flags and posters of APC candidates were allegedly damaged. Olujobi said shortly before the gunmen arrived, streetlights along Ajilosun Street, where the APC secretariat is located, were switched off. The hoodlums were said to have wounded the security man at the gate of APC office. Olujobi said the state Director of the Department of State Services and Commissioner of Police have been informed of the development. The attack on the secretariat is coming just days ahead of the presidential rally of the APC in the state. The APC in the last three days had consistently cried out that Fayose, a member of the PDP and die hard supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan, had hatched plans to disrupt the rally of the party. Olujobi equally alleged in the statement on Wednesday evening that Fayose had concluded plans to hold a rally at Fajuyi Roundabout on Saturday to coincide with APC presidential rally. Fajuyi Roundabout is a major artery to Ekitiparapo Square along NTA Road where APC is holding its presidential rally on Saturday. The rule of the Independent National Electoral Commission prevents two parties to hold rallies on the same day in the same state capital. The PDP held its rally in Ekiti State about two weeks ago.
