Breaking News: Our media partner WYMTs Angela Sparkman tells us that the ongoing issue with a closed Bell County Clerks office will change most likely by tomorrow as Court Clerk Becky Blevins is being allowed to return to work. Judge Skip Hammonds was told by Blevins lawyer that the $25,000 bond she posted proved she was not a flight risk. She plead not guilty to her charges. Although those charges stand, Kentucky statutes state that she can retain her position as an elected official during the subsequent trial process. Bell County Attorney Neil Ward did not object to the motion because getting the clerks office open was in the best interest of the county and to get bills paid. Judge Hammons agreed. The other defendants in the case, Connie Watkins, Kayla Carnes, and Flora Ferrell all plead not guilty to their charges and because they are not elected officials, the conditions of their release will remain in effect that they are not allowed to be on courthouse property. In related news: The cancelled Bell County fiscal court meeting will now take place tomorrow at 11:00am.
