Breaking!!! The Chairperson of the Justice, legal and Parliamentary Affairs Potfio Committee is currently presenting a Report on the Electoral Amendment Bill Hearings in Parliament. These are some of the issues gathered during the hearings. - Hon, Majome briefs House of Assembly that the issue of voter registration was at the top of issues raised during outreach meetings. - On a positive note, the Honorable member tells Parly that young people were the most represented during hearing meetings. She further alludes that they levels of participation during hearings displayed their keenness and interest in national elections in Zimbabwe. - The issue of use of voter registration slips came out strongly with dissenting opinions, one group strongly opposing their continued use whilst the other recommended their use but with improved security features to plug away loopholes and potential abuse. - The military should not be involved in the conduct and running of national elections. - ZEC should be impartial. - Need to allow people in the diaspora to vote. - Civil Servants must be allowed to work on the wards they are registered during elections. - Honorable Majome has just ended her presentation and Members are now debating.
