Breaking free from religion is one of the harder things to do. One reason for this is, we dont like to think that we are religious or have a religious mindset. We grow up in the particular way we worship or go to church and it becomes a tradition or religious stronghold in our minds. Its a stronghold in that we come to the conclusion that God will only operate within our structure or way of doing things. If anyone tries something different, its not widely accepted. We gauge everything based on what weve seen and experienced in the past. If youve visited many churches at all, they all do the same things. They may rearrange some things but theyre basically the same. If anyone does something different, resistance comes. Many people have been liberated and say theyre no longer religious. However, they say this because they now wear pants or shorts to church, maybe flip flops and some go as far as wearing hats to church. Others base their liberation on being able to raise their hands in a worship service. Some say theyre liberated and they show it by jumping or kneeling in service. And that is true for many. Thank God that people have been liberated and set free from stuffy religious activity. But are we still free? As free as we can be? Religion is deceptive. It causes you to think youre free because some things change while other more important things stay the same. For instance, all believers have spiritual giftings that are literally dying inside us if we dont know theyre there. The frustration so many people sense on any given Sunday morning is the calling and gifting of God wanting to be released for the building up of the body of Christ. There are many who know theres more to this thing called the Kingdom. Theyre using their giftings consistently. Theyre not allowing religion to stifle their anointing. Theyre moving and acting on what the Holy Spirit is doing. Freedom for the addict is available. The bound up, the hurt, the broken and those far from God are receiving their spiritual inheritance. These things are going on all around you. Just because its not posted on Facebook doesnt mean its not happening. I know, I know. It can be said that the way those things are done can be religious and become traditional. And I say, I agree. This is the reason why we, as called leaders to His Body, MUST always seek His mind. But dont forget one truth. Deliverance, setting captives free, getting people filled with Gods Spirit, casting out devils and more, will never be religious activities. They are however, scriptural and exerted by the finger of God!
