Breaking news: Strikes to hit French airports this week 10 Mon, Jun 2013 Passengers travelling to and from French airport starting today (June 10) can face delays and cancellations as several different unions representing French Air Traffic Controllers have called for industrial action. The strikes are expected to start tomorrow (June 11) and last until June 13. Air France has advised that its schedule will be disrupted, but that it plans to operate all long-haul flights to and from Paris. The airline confirmed that it will make amendments to its medium-haul flights starting today (June 10) according to the latest instruction given by the French Civil Aviation Authority. The airline added that while it is doing its best to limit the inconvenience to passengers, delays and last-minute cancellations are not excluded. Passengers are advised to check their flight schedules available in real-time under the ‘Flight schedules’ section before heading to the airport. Passengers are also urged to validate or update their contact details through the ‘View/Modify my Reservation’ section in order for the airline to timeously and efficiently provide updates on any flight disruptions. The airline is urging passengers holding an Air France ticket to or from French airports, with travel plans between the affected dates, on a short or medium-haul flight, to postpone their travel plans. The airline is offering the following options to these passengers: - Passengers wishing to change their travel plans up to and including June 16, may change their reservation in the same cabin at no extra cost. - Passengers who wish to change their flight between June 17 and June 30, 2013 inclusive, the modification of their booking can be made free of charge at the same fare, according to availability, or by paying the difference for a higher fare. - For flights cancelled or delayed by more than five hours and should the rebooking solutions not be convenient for passengers or if passengers prefer to cancel their trip, they may request a refund with the exclusion of service fees.
