Breaking the cycle... change. Change can be good or bad from outside or internal influence. Today I want to focus on changing ourselves for the betterment of us. Many of us find ourselves wanting to make changes in our lives whether it be settling down and starting a family, going to school, better job, whatever the case may be but find we cant break the current cycle we are in. We are creatures of habit and find security in continuing down whatever path we are on for the fear of the unknown even when in our mind we want these changes to take place. We find ourselves surrounded by the same people, staying out late, laying around the house watching tv, trying to fight for poisonous relationships, etc all while being fully aware that it is self-destructive or counter-productive. We could, in most cases, continue the path and live our lives but in the end we will have not bettered ourselves and will feel incomplete. So, how can we change? In its most simplistic version change is simply a matter of will power. We all control what we do with our lives we just have to step up and make it happen. A few ways I have found to break the cycle is by setting goals for yourself. Think about what you really want out of life, the main goal. Then think of smaller short term goals that will ultimately help you reach the end game. Once you have done this put pen to paper and write them out and put them somewhere you will see them daily and work towards each step. This may sound trivial but actually writing them down in itself is an accomplishment and a step in the right direction. Stay focused and make sure the goals are realistic so you dont set yourself up for failure. Change is never easy but if you put your mind to it you can do it and you need to remind yourself of that. I end with this.... Only you know what will make you happy and only you control the outcome of your life so get out there and take it... Break the Cycle. -Carlos
