Breaking the glass ceiling is a metaphor I applied to myself today. The first day of 2015 had already brought me good news.The postal service is a massive organization and highly competitive internally. I got a promotion at work. Early on in my career I turned down a big promotion to be a part of the management team. I have to turned it down because I chose to raised my two young children at that time. I had a lot of lateral transfers since then and have been content in my customer service position for the longest time. However, a colleague who believed in me asked me to apply for a position whom although it was district wide opening it was not widely announced and only broached to certain individuals whom they believed is highly qualified. I am now a part of the Human Resources Department of the United States Postal Service in a detailed capacity.
