Breast Cancer Awareness Month As of September 25, 2014, I am happy to be 5 years cancer free!! Remember breast cancer does not discriminate. I come from a long line of family members who has had breast cancer... Taken from us too young Aunt Violet Perretta and Aunt Patti St Clair....The many survivors are Aunt Florence Giacinto (twice) Aunt Terrsa Pasani, cousin Leslie Wyllie (Violets daughter), cousin Linda Giacinto and my mother Aunt Marie St Clair...with a long line of relatives you think well her chances were pretty high....Well thats not so... My mother carries the BRCA2 gene which means her childrens chances are about 87% if we carry the gene too. I was tested for the gene after my mother was diagnosed and was happy I did not carry the gene...but 6 months later I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So....the moral of this story is....Breast Cancer does not discriminate!! Get your mammograms and feel your boobies. (Losing your breasts is one thing...losing all your hair at the same time sucked)
