Breast Cancer Facts For Women and Men in Virginia African-American women and white women in Virginia were diagnosed with breast cancer at rates of 126.1 per 100,000 and 124.2 per 100,000 respectively. African-American women had a mortality rate that was 48% higher than that of white women. About 1% of all breast cancer cases in the United States occur in men. There are 2,240 new cases expected among men this year. Also, men in the U.S. are expected to die from breast cancer this year.
