Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool squad are hurting over Hull defeat but are focused on massive Norwich tie The Reds were lacklustre in their defeat to Hull on Sunday but have an immediate opportunity to bounce back against the Canaries on Wednesday Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he was left hurt by the clubs defeat to Hull yesterday before telling his players to quickly bounce back. The Reds slipped to a surprising 3-1 loss to Steve Bruces side at the KC Stadium, which will come as a major setback in their bid for a top four place. It leaves them seven points off league leaders Arsenal and Rodgers was quick to point out the disappointment he felt after the performance. The Anfield boss said: It hurts us all because we were nowhere near our level, but its the bigger picture we need to reflect on, because we havent had too many days like this. If we were going to lose a game I wouldnt have expected it to be at Hull. Thats no disrespect to them but this was a game where we should come and do much better. We didnt play well enough and there were too many individual mistakes. Liverpool are in action against Norwich on Wednesday, the first of back-to-back home games, with West Ham set to make the trip to Anfield on Saturday. Rodgers revealed he set his players a target of 10 points from five games, which included the win over Fulham, last weekends Merseyside derby draw and the defeat to Hull. Wins in the next two will secure the target for the Reds and their boss wants his side to bounce back against Chris Hughtons men, who they have emphatically beaten in their previous three encounters. He added: Its now a massive game against Norwich on Wednesday and we must focus to get the points in that game. When we went into the Fulham game we had targets for the number of points we wanted from the next five games. If we get two victories in the next two games, that will put us on course for the bigger picture of two points a game. That is the points total that should get us where we want to arrive. Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been declared fit for the visit of Norwich, after appearing as a substitute on Sunday. mirror
