Brendans Running Club - Winter running survival guide Winter running might not have the same appeal as putting on the shorts and runners on a beautiful summer’s day but it does have the same rewards and in many ways can be more invigorating , there is a fantastic feel good factor to be got from coming back from a run with the knowledge you have just battled the elements and won. 1) Remember summer bodies are made in the winter, spring is only eight weeks away, look how far down the road of fitness you will be if you start now. 2) It’s raining-there is only so wet you can get ,when your finished go home for a hot shower 3) Its dark-wear reflective clothing, stay on a well light route and where possible run with others. 4) It’s snowing- fresh snow is beautiful to run on. 5) It’s cold- Dress in layers a good base layer is essential .gloves and hat are musts. 6) Be extra careful with your footfall ,going up or down footpaths 7) Do a good warm up before you run. 8) Always think safety 9) Over the last few years brendans running club has run everything from 5ks to marathons in glorious summer sunshine to horrendous winter weather and we have enjoyed every single run 10) No excuses
