Brewster Maintenance - Detroit, MI Carpentry Foreman Responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and performing journeyman-level rough and finish carpentry in the alteration and construction of buildings. MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision • Review project plans and blueprints with owners • Estimates time, material, equipment and supplies needed • Develops work schedules and crew assignments • Inspects work areas to insure job is being completed as agreed • Completes time sheets, accident reports, and work orders • Evaluates staff performance and train’s staff in related work assignments • Maintains records of operation • Monitors inventories and requests supplies and equipment • Insures work areas are properly maintained Carpentry • Perform rough and finish carpentry including building additions and remodeling • Install floors and wall coverings • Repair broken windows, doors, walls, and ceilings • Install door jambs and hangs metal and wood doors • Finish walls • Repair/replace railings • Build partitions and ramps • Install insulation and weather stripping • Maintain and repair machinery, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade • Perform basic plumbing maintenance and installation • Perform basic electrical maintenance and installation Skills: QUALIFICATIONS: • 10+ years experience in the construction industry • Previous experience as a Carpentry foreman required • Possess own tools • OSHA 30 hour preferred • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred • Lead/ Asbestos awareness hazard class preferred SKILLS/ ABILITIES: Computer Skills • Possess experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer • Ability to learn new software to do daily activities such as; write daily reports, meeting minutes, upload pictures Technical Skills • Possess knowledge of: rough and finish carpentry; tools, equipment, materials and safety practices of carpentry work • Possess knowledge of building techniques of new and remodel construction; masonry, concrete, and wood construction • Possess knowledge of applicable building codes and standards • Possess knowledge of corporate and OSHA safety policies and emergency procedures • Possess experience in using and maintaining tools and equipment associated with carpentry • Possess experience with installation of drywall • Possess experience with installation of flooring • Possess experience with painting • Possess experience with minor plumbing • Possess experience with minor electrical • Possess a reliable vehicle and valid MI driver’s license • Ability to estimate time and materials needed for carpentry jobs • Ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 90 pounds • Ability to climb and work from ladders, bend, stoop, and work around wood dust and fumes • Ability to visualize project through completion • Ability to read drawings and specifications, with an understanding of architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and how to find information • Ability to coordinate means and methods to expedite schedule and reduce costs • Ability to understand when something is considered a change to a contractor and the process to authorize these changes • Ability to research issues onsite and accurately communicate to project staff • Ability to prioritize activities and track progress • Ability to negotiate issues with contractors • Ability to identify, track and timely complete of work tasks • Ability to understand role in risk management at jobsite • Ability to accurately communicate issues, schedule and process to the Architect/Engineer and Owner
