Brgy. Iba muse wears the Ms. CLFO 2014 crown Out of 26 beautiful muses from different barangays of Region 3, a 15 year-old SMCM incoming Senior Lass from Brgy. Iba, Meycauayan City, Merliza Gina Donato won the prestigious title of Ms. Central Luzon Fire Olympics 2014 after capturing the votes of the jury in the pageant presented, March 28 in the Clark Parade Grounds Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The Event was participated by the firefighters of the region coming from the BFP, Industrial and Barangay Level. Despite of the extreme temperature that time, Gina proved to everyone that she can make it. Her amazing runway walk, public speaking prowess and confidence brought her to snatch the title. Gina’s winning answer, “Our government through its agency mainly the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) initiates massive fire safety awareness about Fire Prevention Month. It aims to instill to the citizenry the importance of fire safety and to influence them to get involved since fire prevention is everyone’s concern. But of course the government alone cannot shoulder a program of such magnitude. The help, assistance and cooperation of every Filipino is crucial to avoid tragic situations. In this year’s theme: “Isulong ang Kaunlaran, Sunog ay Iwasan, Kaalaman at Pag-iingat ang Kailangan”, this theme greatly emphasized that we must need to have an exerted and continuous effort to increase public awareness and encourage a proactive approach to fire safety. BFP recommends safety measures in ensuring a home free of fire hazards. But as a youth of today I have 2 important aspects of living: discipline and education. Discipline in the sense that we must need to have this kind of positive attitude to follow accurate fire precautions and the second is education for us to share our learning to other people so that they will start living with greater awareness about fire safety. I saw her potential in our daily training, I know a bright future awaits her in beauty pageant” said coach Camillo in an interview.
