Brianna Strong. Another of our incredible artists joining us January 31, Rozsa Centre, UofC. Brianna will create a work of art on stage, in response to the music of composer, Agostino Di Scipio (Italy). All of our artists will have their work on display in the lobby that evening, be sure to arrive early! Brianna Strong is a drawer living and working in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2012 and has exhibited, though modestly, locally and nationally. Strongs research-led practice takes interest in the nature of space as a venue for time, physics, cultural mechanics, correlational systems of analysis and critical-creative inquiry. She observes drawing as way of negotiating distances and as a means of injecting spaces into space. Strong approaches the art object as a device for conceptual alignment between systems of thinking and systems of feeling, as well as, a device for the physical alignment of people. She views the aesthetic experience as the propagation of social, intellectual and spiritual exchange. Brianna is the co-creator of the ongoing design narrative bad taiste - bad kultaur with Vancouver-based twin sister Kirsten Strong. It began as a show of rejected art and design alongside unrealized discourse and architecture, and has recently launched as a collective that seeks to elevate the importance of cultural agency. Collaborative inquiry into the nature of the creative process with Mark Limacher continues to be a compelling force to all investigations of critical, aesthetic and scientific dimensions.
