Brianna Wu is Head of Development at Giant Spacekat computer games and developer of Revolution 60. Recently at conventions and on the internet, she has been speaking out on issues of women and gender bias in tech. For her forthright stand on an issue that should concern all of us, she has been rewarded with threats of rape and violence. Going into tech should not subject any one of any gender to physical threats of any kind. Gaming and comics and other fun activities we share are supposed to be, well, fun. For everyone. We all need to look at this situation and speak out about it. Men who think this is hideous need to speak up more loudly than the seven who evidently think this is acceptable. Women who can no longer bow their heads and accept it as part of their job need to be heard. Students who want to go into tech need to be informed about this. Parents who have daughters and parents who have sons need to talk to their offspring about this. Parents who game or dont game need to discuss this with their gaming offspring. Gamers need to speak out it loudest of all.
