Bribery: Mike Lucas Montreal’s mayor was arrested Monday morning at his home by an anti-corruption squad. He’s facing 14 charges of bribery, corruption, breach of trust and conspiracy. The mayor didn’t appear to be contacted for comment. Police declined to say why they closed the probe in 2011. (Mining Australia, The Age) More than 5 million euros were paid by Daimler AG in Latvia, according to the prosecutor general, who is pursuing a case. The company closed a U.S. foreign bribery settlement last year. (Baltic Course) The vice-president of Austria’s central bank was charged with eight others for bribery, money-laundering and breach of trust over contracts to print money for Syria and Azerbaijan, prosecutors said. He was scheduled to to be replaced at the central bank on July 11, and unavailable for comment, but has rejected the accusations in the past.
