Bride and Groom I hate to groom horses. To me it’s such a pain. The only easy part to brush is the forelock and the mane. I also don’t much care for cleaning out the little v-shaped grooves that fill up with dirt and manure down in the horses’ hooves. Every time I want to take a ride it’s a thirty minute ordeal. You would think all that currying time would improve my grooming skill. But the horses’ coats look about the same when the detailing has ended and it hardly seems worth all the energetic effort I expended. I decided to find some clever way not to do this anymore and get instead my darling wife to do this unpleasant chore. But I had to make her think it was her idea from the start so I got myself psyched up to play my deceitful dramatic part. I said “Honey, bending over so much is really affecting my bursitis and brushing around in circles aggravates my tendonitis. Being all stove up could affect my athletic ability to ride a horse.” Since my wife is a gullible person, she bought this hooey, of course. You see, this lady I married is the caring, sympathetic type and she exploits easily, especially if I start to gripe. So she said, “Don’t worry, just stay put and I’ll tack up the horses, Hon. Then I’ll call you and we’ll go for a ride as soon as they are done.” So I’m sitting here, smiling, with my feet up in my easy chair and she’s out there working furiously amidst flying horsey hair. Cowboys, if you marry a horse crazy woman you can rightfully assume That if you play your cards exactly right your bride will become your groom.
