Bridge November News October has been come and gone so fast, as will the next couple of months with the holidays fast approaching. Our Halloween parties were a huge success. The children looked great in their costumes and did a great job singing for their families. The children have all grown so much in both their academic and social skills. Our preschoolers are doing amazing with their writing in their curriculum books. They have shown so much progress in their writing skills over just the last month. Take a look at our facebook pictures for some examples. We are so proud of them!! November will be a busy month with Thanksgiving and Hanukah starting the same day. We have many projects planned for the holidays including a Thanksgiving Feast planned by some of the children in their classrooms. I wish you all a safe, healthy and happy holiday month, as we take this time to gather with our families and be thankful. Infants – Miss Brandy and Miss Pat This month, we will be working on developing large and small motor skills through activities like tummy time, rolling over, reaching, grasping, pulling, and sitting up. On the parent board in the infant room we have posted some important milestones in the area of large and small motor development. As the colder weather is quickly approaching we will try to make it outside every day so please continue to send your child in with shoes and a coat daily. As the colder weather is here, we cannot put blankets into the cribs so please send in a sleep sack for your child if you would like. Please make sure to label all items that come into the center. Many of the bibs, bottles, blankets, etc that come into the center look alike and we do not want any mix-ups. Thank you and have a Happy Thanksgiving! Toddler 1 – Miss Lynnie and Miss Tami Welcome November! This month we will be introducing our new curriculum. Our themes include All About Me, Native Americans, Thanksgiving, and Circus. First the children will be creating self art including hand and foot prints, a self portrait, my favorite color, and gluing their favorite foods to a paper plate. The children will then be getting into the Holiday spirit with feather painting and creating headbands, teepees, a pilgrim hat, a cornucopia, and a turkey. Lastly the children will be creating circus art including popcorn, balloons, cotton candy, a clown, and a big top. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone! Gobble Gobble! Toddler 2 – Miss Sue and Miss Sharon November is fast approaching. During the first week, “Good Nutrition”, we will be tasting fruits and creating yummy foods to put in a cornucopia. The second and third week will be spent on the “Pilgrims and Native Americans”. We will paint the Mayflower, paint with feathers, and create a feast placemat. We will also work on our fine motor skills by stringing a fruit loop necklace and lacing a chicken leg. Other Native American art work will be a teepee, Indian corn, and painting a buffalo. The last week, “Turkey Week”, we will make all things turkey including a turkey centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table. I hope you have a great holiday!!! Transitional Preschool – Miss Kayla October flew by! The Halloween party was a huge success! I loved the costumes! November will be a time for learning about what it means to be thankful. To start the month off, we will have a week “All About Numbers” where we will do some tactile activities to explore them. The next week, we will explore what it means to be “Thankful” by making cornucopias and turkeys! Then its “Thanksgiving Week” where we are going to make mayflowers! We will also investigate some “Yummy Foods” at the end of the month by using our five senses on cornucopia foods like corn bread and cranberry sauce! The children are showing a lot of improvement with tracing their names, letters and numbers. We will continue to work with the letters B, C, and D and the numbers 1 and 2. Happy Thanksgiving! Preschool 1 – Miss Rose We are sad to see October end. The children had so much fun with their scary projects, Halloween songs and of course our Halloween party. Now its time to look forward to a season of traditions, family and of course yummy Thanksgiving food. We will begin November with the theme I Know My Numbers. We will be playing lots of counting games and hiding our numbers in some of our beautiful artwork, so keep your eyes open! Then its time to count the feathers of some colorful turkeys. During the second week, our focus will be on Yummy Thanksgiving Food. We will make a cornucopia, a collage of a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast and some colorful Indian corn as we discuss the first thanksgiving. The third week, our class will explore “What it Means to be Thankful” as we make some trees showing all the things that we are thankful for. Of course what is “Thanksgiving” without some turkey art projects, turkey songs and turkey stories? Our curriculum books have been very successful. Many of the children can find their own books by recognizing their names on the outside. They enjoy seeing which numbers and letters they will be working on next. In addition to our stamps on their papers, they will receive some thanksgiving stickers for work well done. Something they will be excited to show you at the end of the month! Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Preschool 2 – Miss Jonette I hope you all enjoyed our Halloween party! The little ones worked so hard practicing their songs and they did a fantastic job! With all the spooks of Halloween over we want to welcome November. This month our writing will include the letters E and F, the numbers 5 and 6, and we will continue learning shapes. I hope you all got a chance to look over their work from October and saw how much progress each child is making. Aside from just their writing they are making progress everyday learning to color inside the lines, use a computer, recognize their letters and numbers, spell their name, play cooperatively, zipper and tie, follow rules, and much more. This is a very important year because you will see they will gain a lot of independence. Our themes for this month will be,”Healthy Bodies”, where we will learn about healthy food choices and good hygiene. We will decorate some fruits and vegetables during art, and get a special visit from the dentist! Next we will celebrate all the wonders of Thanksgiving with the themes of “Harvest”, “Native Americans and Pilgrims”, and “Turkey Time”. We will be getting creative making acorns, corn on the cob, turkeys, and Indian head dresses. On Wednesday the 27th, our class along with Miss Barbaras will have a Thanksgiving feast! We will enjoy turkey, potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, and much more! Preschool 3 – Pre/K - Miss Barbara A big thank you to all the parents who sent in Halloween decorations for my room as well as treats, candy, plates and napkins for the Halloween party. The children enjoyed the party and I hope you enjoyed the songs they sang for you. For the month of November we will continue to work hard on our letters E, F, and G and our numbers 5, 6, and 7. The children have all been working hard on their writing skills as well as number and letter recognition. The themes for the month will be “Hibernation”, “Reptiles and Amphibians”, and we will finish the month with “Turkeys” and “Thanksgiving”. Some of our teacher guided projects will be bears, frogs, turtles, and lots of turkeys. On November 27th the children that attend on Wednesdays, will join Miss Jonette’s class and we will work together as Pilgrims and Indians and prepare a feast. The children will make all the fixings. We will serve mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy and of course turkey. The children will work together preparing the food and setting the lunch table. We will then gather around to share this wonderful meal and share what we are thankful for. If your child does not want to eat this for their lunch please send in a lunch with a drink if your child is full day. I wish all of you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. Pre/k-K – Miss Danielle Let us take a break and just think of what we are thankful for, and all the beautiful foods farmers grow for us to enjoy with our families. This month we will be discussing what foods keep us healthy and what we are thankful for. The children will be making some creative centerpieces for the table as well as some decorations to go around the house. While we go over the foods that keep us healthy we will be making a veggie soup to enjoy one day at lunch. We will also be making our own biscuits and butter like the pilgrims and Native Americans did. The children will be working on letter sounds, addition and sequencing. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Hanukah!
