Brigham Young University Engineers Study Male Urine “Splashback.” The Salt Lake (UT) Tribune (11/8, Whitehurst) reports Randy Hurd, a graduate student in mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University, and assistant professor Tadd Truscott, are searching for a solution to the “problem of male urine ‘splashback.’” The researchers study the “physical mechanisms of fluid behaviors,” as Hurd and Truscott “put it on their Splash Lab website — such as how torpedo shapes enter the water compared to spherical shapes, or how balls skip over the surface.”
