Brilliant bicycle ride from DC to Del Ray for the Art Festival - TopicsExpress

Brilliant bicycle ride from DC to Del Ray for the Art Festival happening in the street there this past Saturday, October 4, 2014. Then bicycled on via Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Oxon-Hill, Upper Marlboro to Annapolis, MD for the Fringe Festival happening Saturday afternoon/evening. I dropped a bag of black walnuts Id collected from my ride as a gift to Andy at the Annapolis Yacht Club. He let me dead-head marigolds @ AYC when I bicycled to Annapolis last Wednesday. He mentioned fun oyster reef building projects their club was involved in creating when we talked. Andy also mentioned his dislike for Ailanthus (The Tree That Grows in Brooklyn) growing through the cement in the area and his desire to plant black walnuts. So funny, to me, how we humans make messes like paving over everything or creating lots of garbage, then get angry/hate resourceful plants (Ailanthus)/animals(rats, gulls) that are able to survive even thrive in the midst of our mess. Awesome music at the Fringe Festival provided by Johnson Mens Gospel Choir, Phill Swing Band featuring music from the 1920s and 30s and Mamma Jamma an ire Reggae Band. I started dancing w/ Kathryn to music from Phills Swing Band then her friend Paula and Paulas work dog joined us. Once he took off his work coat, he was ready to dance and guard/lay on top of purses we danced around for our Mexican Purse Dance. Purses were provided by Susanne Worthington (formerly of Morehead City, NC whos brother and she helped renovate a cottage on Bill Simpsons property for their adopted brother.) Susanne now lives in Greenwich Village, NYC. Her friend, Tree Mar, formerly of NYC, now lives Annapolis, MD. Tree and Susan joined our growing circle of dancers in the street to swinging tunes of 20s and 30s. Kathryn shared that she and Paula were just talking about the idea that we are living in an amazing time where with human innovation weve produced more of all the things that people used to work to make money to buy than there are people to use them, thus prices on at least basic needs: food, clothing and shelter, should be free. Yay for like minds! Thus why we were dancing in the streets! After the dancing ended, I thought I might be able to sleep aboard Gratitude a lovely blue-hulled sailboat at Annapolis Yacht Club but, alas, just another one of many empty/locked spaces patrolled by numerous police paid for by many property owners in their taxes. C est la vie. It was a wonderful 3 hour, night bicycle ride back to DC along Rte 50. Beautiful wide shoulder almost all the way on mostly straight road. Only down side was the considerable debris in the shoulder. Crazy that I passed at least three cars along the way pulled over with some type of difficulty. I got back to my Luxury Greenhouse, #6 at 3501 New York Ave, NE, Washington, DC 20002 by 0200 hours Sunday morning questioning my sanity but glad to be home.
