Bring the jobs to East Chicago! The Senate voted to move forward with the Bring Jobs Home Act (S. 2569) on Wednesday. All Senators voted in favor except for Coburn (R-OK), Graham (R-SC), Inhofe (R-OK), Johnson (R-WI), Lee (R-UT), Paul (R-KY) and Roberts (R-KS). While the bill passed the first hurdle with bipartisan support, we expect a much more significant challenge on the next vote. That vote could take place next week. Stay tuned! In addition to calls flooding Senate offices from Steelworkers in states across the nation, a group of our members traveled to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday to support the Bring Jobs Home Act. They joined U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Chuck Schumer (D-NY); Bob Casey (D-PA), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) at a press conference in the U.S. Capitol to advocate for passage of the Bring Jobs Home Act.
