Bring your family to work week! Fleur East and Lauren Platt ace X Factor performances with relatives on stage Its Whitney Houston vs. Elton John on this week of The X Factor, but it seemed to also be Bring your family to work day. Lauren Platt opened the show with How Do I Know by Whitney, and her brother Lewis was in the backing dancing group during the performance. Later, Fleur East invited her mother and sister onstage to perform as she covered Whitneys version of Chaka Khans hit Im Every Woman. Lauren started her performance, like usual, by slowing it down to more of a ballad than a party song. She had a tricky time with her dance move(s) in a previous show but she seemed to fare better with just a bit of coordinated walking with her backing dancers including her younger brother. Mel B and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini gave her standing ovation before Louis Walsh said: We know you can sing but now we know you can dance. I think this is your best performance, you gave us your personality, said Mel. I thought you were better than what you were given last week, this is the first time I can see you as a credible recording artist, Simon said. And tell your brother to audition for Britains Got Talent. I completely agree with all the comments, Laurens mentor enthused, that could be a song today in the charts. Fleur East sang Whitneys version of Chaka Khans Im Every Woman, and had her family members and some friends on stage for the performance. Wowzer, Simon you are so lucky to have her, Mel enthused, You are every woman girl! It would be an absolute disaster if you werent in the final, Cheryl continued in the judges praise for Fleur. I absolutely love you said Simon, Thats a tough song and I love that you had your family on there. I want to see you in the final. Ben Haenow felt out of his comfort zone last week with a big band, but hes feeling even more pressure with performing Whitneys version of I Will Always Love You. I love that you took a risk, it paid off, Louis said. For me taking on this particular song, you didnt give me enough light and shade. You just sang it like a rock song. I didnt think that song should be sung like that, Mel criticised. At this point in the competition to take a risk like that its crazy, that song didnt do anything for me tonight, Cheryl said agreeing with Mel. Simon stuck by his artist of course saying that he was more than happy with his performance and the risk taken. Only The Young returned this week with the first Elton John song, performing a party version of Something About The Way You Look Tonight. I want to join their group! I loved it, Mel enthused to the band. This weeks one of those themes where it could hinder you but I think you did a great versions of Elton, Cheryl said. Simon didnt agree and thought after their performance they were not safe in the competition - though he did urge people to vote. There is a massive gap in the market for a group like this, said Louis as he urged viewers to vote too. After getting a disappointing reaction for his performance from Simon last week, Andrea Faustini had a lot to prove with his performance of I Have Nothing. That is how you do a Whitney song, Louis cheered. Cheryl agreed: This is when a theme fits an artist perfectly. You hit that note so beautifully. It wasnt perfect, but what I love about you, you just love singing and there is something sweet and innocent about you, Simon said. There is no way your leaving this week after that performance. I am shaking, you do something to people when you sing, Mel said about her contestant. Im so honoured to be working with you. After giving a warning for the viewers at home with a nervous disposition, Simon introduced Stevi Ritchie. Simon made sure everyone knew that he only picked the song, and its no wonder the music mogul wanted to distance himself from the spectacle his act brought on stage. I didnt get the Egyptian theme, Louis said. Up until now Gemmas styling and Brians team have done a great job, Mel said, but now theres problems to sort out. Youve entertained us for weeks on end, and I think its amazing that youre here, Cheryl diplomatically said. It was a little bit nutty, Simon said before breaking into laughter. You do make an effort, you will be remembered for that performance, it is the craziest thing Ive ever seen on these shows. There is an audience out there who like this sort of thing. Stereo Kicks performed arguably their best performance so far, singing Elton Johns Dont Let the Sun Go Down On Me. You deserved that standing ovation, I see you as a proper group now, Mel said. You just did it, you did everything right, Simon said. Emeli Sandé and David Guetta performed as the acts and judges awaited the phone vote results to find out which act would be leaving on Saturday night.
