Brisbane City Council are proposing to charge groups $300 for bookings at Council run parks, with fines of up to $5,000 for failing to pay. This petition asks the Lord Mayor to reconsider his proposed changes and remove fees for student groups. If a payment system must be implemented it should have an exemption for student, community and not-for-profit groups Many UQ student clubs and societies use Brisbane City Council parks for social events, as a low-cost alternative to a night out. These proposals will price students out of our public areas.
