Britain Links Suspect Parcels to Northern Ireland Terrorism Reuters (02/13/14) James, William; Macllelen, Kylie According to a spokeswoman from British Prime Minister David Camerons office, seven suspicious packages that were sent to army recruitment offices throughout England this week contained small, crude, but potentially viable devices bearing the hallmarks of Northern Ireland related terrorism. The spokeswoman noted that the suspicious packages were safely dealt with by the police and bomb disposal units. According to the South East Counter Terrorism Unit, the packages were found at army careers offices in Aldershot, Brighton, Chatham, Oxford, Reading and Slough. Though the Irish Republican Army (IRA) abandoned its armed struggle to end Britains control of Northern Ireland and bring about unification with Ireland 16 years ago, the British government announced in January that terrorists were still planning attacks.
