Britain’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has condemned a deadly bombing in #Lebanon’s capital city of Beirut which left more than 20 people dead and over one hundred injured. FCO Minister for the Middle East Alistair Burt censured the attack in a southern suburb of Beirut, saying, "Terrorism and extremism have no place in Lebanon”. He also urged the Lebanese officials to probe the incident, which led to at least 21 people killed and 120 injured in a powerful car bomb on Thursday, August 15. “I condemn this evening’s bombing in Beirut and extend my thoughts and condolences to those injured and those that have lost friends or family in this senseless attack,” Burt said. Lebanese President Michel Sleiman also condemned the bombing, saying the attack “bears the fingerprints of terrorism and Israel” and is intended to destabilize Lebanon. A militant group operating in neighboring Syria calling itself the Brigades of Aiysha has claimed responsibility for the blast. M.D
