British Empire Medal To say I was staggered when I first heard of the fact that I was to be named in the New Year’s Honours List was to put it very mildly. To have the news greeted with such a whirlpool of congratulations was another really amazing realisation for me. I certainly could not allow this opportunity to pass without offering sincere and heart-felt gratitude to the thousands who have offer me compliments personally, by post, Facebook, telephone, texting, email or private messaging. I offer gratefulness to the good folk at the CHRONICLE who opted to give the news of the British Empire Medal front-page coverage. I must also thank all those who thought it appropriate to forward my name to the Awards Authorities in the first instance and I should also like to pay a massive tribute to Jennie for the patience, backing and support which she has always given to every aspect of my endeavours. I am really humbled by the rush of approval which I have received and I very much hope that this public declaration of my appreciation will be accepted by all who have been in contact with me on this matter.
