British Formula 3 Championship King claims fifth consecutive title for Volkswagen Jordan King has given Volkswagen their fifth consecutive title in the British Formula 3 Championship. The British driver, who is just nineteen years of age, clinched the title race on the last race weekend of the season with a double victory at the Nürburgring. The Carlin team driver won the first and third races in his Dallara ‘powered by Volkswagen’ car and took fifth place in the second race. This result means that Volkswagen have won every single title since their return to the racing series in 2009. “When I was cart racing, I saw drivers such as Alguersuari or Vergne competing in the British Formula 3 series. It seemed unimaginable that I would ever achieve this, yet now I’m standing here and have won the title,” King remarked. The British Formula 3 Championship has been considered as a talent pool for future Formula 1 world champions for more than 60 years. Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, Finland’s Mika Häkkinen and Britain’s Jacky Stewart are just a few of the names to have launched their carriers in this arena. Up to 2013, thirteen former Formula 3 drivers have secured a total of twenty-two Formula 1 World Championship titles. Volkswagen Castrol Cup Poland Successful guest entrance for Andreas Mikkelsen Volkswagen rally driver Andreas Mikkelsen celebrated a successful debut in the Volkswagen Castrol Cup at the Hungaroring. The twenty-four year old guest entrant gave a strong performance in his first ever lap race at the Hungarian Formula 1 circuit. In the first race he crossed the line eighth place out of a total of 21 drivers after working his way through the field from twelfth position. Mikkelsen then started the second race in pole position because the starting positions of the top eight placed drivers were reversed. However, he dropped a few places at the start of the race and finished sixth. Overall championship leader Mateusz Lisowski from Poland was the winner of the first race, which enjoyed optimal weather conditions. His fellow countrymen Jakub Litwin and Paweł Krężelok were second and third respectively. The second race was won by another Pole, Jan Kisiel, ahead of Sweden’s Marcus Fluch and Jakub Litwin. Going into the season finale, which will take place in Poznan, Poland on 4 and 5 October, Lisowski leads the overall standings on 450 points, ahead of Kisiel on 403.
