BroadwayStars, a theater news roundup website I follow, carries an article from the Manchester, UK, this morning with the headline TWO MEN SUFFER ANTI-GAY ATTACK ON UKS METROLINK FOR SINGING SONGS FROM WICKED The story says, in part, Jean Claude Manseau and his friend Jake Heaton were signing tunes from the show when a fellow tram passenger began hurling anti-gay jeers at them. They exited the train at Market Street and began walking towards Canal Street when they were approached by the same passenger in Picadilly Gardens. The attacker was quickly joined by 15 additional men who surrounded them and began to attack them. Manseau was knocked unconscious and suffered numerous head injuries in the assault. Although Heaton was punched in the back, he was able to escape and call for help.
