Brookings Chief of Police Suspended for 2 Weeks. Heres the exact wording of the press release: Brookings Police Chief Jeff Miller has been suspended without pay for a period of two weeks. The initial suspension was announced by Brookings City Manager Jeff Weldon and that it was to be effective November 1 until further notice. Weldon announced today the duration of the suspension will be two weeks retroactive to November 1 through November 14. Miller is expected to return to work on Friday, November 15. The suspension was for personnel reasons. Assistant Chief of Police Dave Erickson has been appointed by Weldon as Acting Police Chief. Employee privacy and personnel policies prohibit the City’s disclosure of the reason for the suspension.
