Brooklyn 13s v Strensall As has been the form for this season, Brooklyn started off fairly sluggish and have the wind to thank for the hosts not scoring early on. However 10mins into game Brooklyn found their form with Stephen Kerr bagging his first goal of the game. Strensall attempted to attack though defender Gabriel Urquhart tackled hard and fed the ball nicely to Brooklyns attack. Fowl play from the hosts gave Brooklyn a free kick with Jamie Allen having a crack on goal but wasn’t to be this time. Strensall had another run at goal but a superb block from Tom Warburton kept them out. Midfielder Will Scholefield played his part very well feeding the ball to winger Harry Cooper who crossed the ball in to find sub Jack Whattam and made his first kick of the game a goal. From here Brooklyn were pretty much in charge and after great control of the ball Jamie Allen got on to the score sheet to take the visitors 3-0 up. A stirling corner from Allen found Harry Cooper who finished off nicely to go in to half time 4 goals up. Second half saw Stephen Kerr really turn up the tempo and a fantastic solo run forced 4 Strensall players to attempt to stop him but could only do so by bringing him down in the box to earn a penalty, calmly converted by Jamie Allen. A consolation goal came for the hosts but Harry Cooper replied minutes after with another goal to make it 6-1. Strensall attempted to make a come back but fowl play didn’t pay off with Charlie Monkman standing his ground well in midfield. Another goal soon followed for Kerr but he left his best til last with a 30yard free kick clearing Strensalls goalie and undoubtedly earned him players player of the match with Jamie Allen receiving Manager’s player. Final score 8-1. Well done boys – great teamwork!
