Broseley Birchmeadows new take on movies After a few years absence, evening cinema is back in Broseley. With its powerful, crisp new projector, cabaret layout (with good wines and beers) and excellent sound quality, Broseleys Birchmeadow is tailor-made for a fabulous silver screen experience. Of course, its not quite Hollywood, but its right on your doorstep - and you wont need a second mortgage to get in. The Broseley Cinema Committee is adopting a new approach: instead of trying to keep up with high-street cinemas, film-selector Mark Walmsley has found us award-winning films that have received plenty of positive feedback, both from critics and from audiences; films that people have enjoyed seeing and would like to see again. Theyre mainly recent films that tell their stories well, with screenplay thats admired, and with direction and cinematography that lifts the experience well above mere moving pictures. And, while some may not have big-name casts, they all contain excellent acting. So, the invitation is open to anybody and everybody out there that has a taste for cinema. The next showing, Blue Jasmine, is on May 16 and features Cate Blanchett in an Oscar-winning performance, after which we have the heart-wrenching and controversial Philomena on June 26.
