Brothers, After heavy storms in Kirksville over the last week, - TopicsExpress

Brothers, After heavy storms in Kirksville over the last week, the chapter house has experienced some flooding issues in the basement bedrooms. The flooding was primarily due to a sump pump that failed after nearly ten inches of rain Tuesday night. The result was standing water throughout the houses basement level. So far, the active chapter has replaced the sump pump, torn out the carpet, and has also begun tearing out damaged drywall to proactively prevent mold from making the house unlivable. (Ive posted pictures of the progress so far.) Each of the active members living in the basement have been relocated to other rooms in the house or to alternative off-campus housing. The active chapter and alumni board have set a plan to repair two of the bedrooms in the basement to a livable state within the next two weeks to accommodate those who were forced to leave the house, and to repair at least two more bedrooms by the end of the semester as funding becomes available. We have also discussed doing work over Homecoming weekend on October 11, while knowledgeable home-owning alumni are in town, to repair as much of the damage in the basement as possible. Updates will be sent out as work is completed. Please feel free to contact me via Facebook message with any questions. On another note though, this past week was also rush week and the chapter has pinned 13 new brothers (bringing the current chapter size to 59). ITB, Aaron Dixon
