Please take time to analyze this chapter to understand its content and evaluate whether it provides a helpful discussion of the main elements of an Old Testament worlview. Grace and peace, Pastor John --- • Why wont a so-called “biblical minimalist” view of Old Testament Scripture provide a reliable foundation for constructing a worldview from the Old Testament? (p.37) • Identify a main feature of higher criticism identified by Currid. (p.39) • Outline Currid’s exposition of the key features of OT revelation. (p40) • Evaluate Currid’s discussion of divine revelation and consider what contribution his discussion makes to the Hebrew worldview. (pp40-42). • How does Israel’s monotheism relate to the religious views about god held among the nations surrounding Israel? (p.44-45) • List the names of God on pp.46-48 and be prepared to discuss their relationship to Hebrew worldview. • What is a main difference between the Biblical creation account and pagan mythological accounts of creation? (p.49) • Describe the significance of the Biblical view of verbal fiat creation. (p.50) • Relate the topical structure of the creation week as described by Currid. (p51) • Outline the various views of the Biblical account of creation recorded in Genesis 1 (pp.51-55). Would you agree with Currid that “each viewpoint has its advantages and disadvantages?” (p.54). (p55-56) • Examine the four elements of Eve’s encounter with the serpent as outlined by Currid (pp.56-57). How do these four elements work together to account for why man fell? (p.57) • List the four results of man’s fall outlined by Currid and discuss their implications. (pp.57-58) • Consider what effect the fall upon man’s attempt to obey the dominion mandate. (p.59)
