Brothers, Just received this from Brother John Burchfield. Brethren, pertaining to the Mountain Top Degree on Saturday morning, July 19th on Viking Mountain, (TN & NC line). Several of us met at French Broad last evening along with members from (Tenn.) Greenville Lodge #3 and worked out the latest details as they are listed below. Most important thing is to get there. French Broad has a small church bus they utilize which can transport about twenty (20). You can meet the bus at Ingles in Marshall on 25/70. The bus will leave Ingles at 9:00 AM if you want to ride to the degree location. If you are driving, take Highway 25/70 through Marshall and continue on Highway 208 toward Greeneville. Immediately after crossing the TN line turn right onto Viking Mountain Rd. Go to top of mountain. The road is marked. If you want to caravan with the bus just be sure and be at the Ingles prior to the 9:00 AM departure time. The Meal starts at 11:00. There will be a port-a-jon on site provided by the TN folks. French Broad will bring folding chairs but they will be limited. If you have a small folding chair you want to utilize you might want to bring it along. There will be hamburgers/hotdogs with all the trimmings. A lite windbreaker will also prove useful as the weather is constantly changing. Our two (2) candidates will be from French Broad (292) - Bro. Patrick Wilds, and Nichols-West Asheville (650) - Bro. Scott Shuffler. Both of these candidates will have completed their proficiencies prior to the degree. All of the paperwork has been completed with the NC & TN Grand Lodges to go ahead with the degree. Below is a list of those individuals who have agreed to participate in the degree. R.W. Bro.
