Brown claims win in Wine Town! Margaret River Speedway last night played host to the second round of the Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series and it was Mark Brown who showed nothing but complete class as he raced away to victory in the 50 lap feature event. Brown, driving the pink #N9 Tap Out Energy Drinks, Bennett Motorsports machine bounced back in the best possible way from his last event and signalled to his rivals that he will be one to watch out for once again this season. Being the high points scorer, Brown started out of position ten in the feature and made his way forward to grab the lead at around half race distance, never looking back and claiming a popular win in his first appearance at the track. What made the victory even more impressive was that he had to bounce back from going upside down on Tuesday this week in the rescheduled Perth Motorplex event! Brown started off the night in the perfect way, setting QuickTime ahead of Dan Golding and Ryan Condren. The opening heat saw Lethal Lee Redmond into the lead early, but he drifted a little wide and allowed The Young Gun Kaiden Manders through. Manders didnt need to be asked twice and raced away to grab the win while Dan Golding snuck through for second in the closing stages. Heat two saw The Browndog start in position six and it wasnt long before he was in the lead, while Glen Mears raced hard with Alfonso Guadagnino to grab second on the final lap. Heat three was a huge win to Lethal Lee as he raced away from the field to defeat the hard charging Todd Waddell who started in sixth, and Alfie Guadagnino. The final heat saw Quick Nick Rowe the early leader before Manders swooped around him to grab the lead, and go on to take the win, with Brown suffering his only defeat of the night as he finished in second place. Brown was high points man and consequently he locked in to start the feature from position ten. The format being as it was, he was able to choose who would start next to him from the top ten point scorers. He chose Lee Redmond, who then chose Kaiden Manders and so on until Nicholas Rowe was the last car left and would start on pole in the fifty lap feature event. Starting on the front row alongside him was Condren and it was he who would get the early lead of the race. There was an early restart after Glen Mears came to a stop in the main straight, not long after Manders suffered issues and coasted infield on the opening lap. The race restarted and behind Condren the rest of the field battled, with Todd Waddell working his way through and eventually taking the lead. Waddell set about building up a big lead while Brown and Redmond, having their own battle, also started moving forward. As the laps ticked away Brown chased down and passed Waddell as the longevity of the race began to take its toll as a number of cars found themselves infield. Brown then found himself caught in lapped traffic and Waddell began to quickly close the gap: for a few moments it even looked as if he might challenge for the lead, but Brown found his way through and went on to claim the win from Waddell and Redmond. Rowe, Condren, Guadagnino and Bob Goddard rounded out the finishers. The Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series is going from strength to strength and we would like to thank Margaret River Speedway for hosting us last night. Meanwhile, the series continues to impress in regards to professionalism, with the tent set up in the pits, not to mention the WASDA pace ute which looks resplendent, particularly with the QVEE led lights lit! Once again, we have to say a huge thanks to all our sponsors for making this series possible: Sheehan Haulage, QVEE, Air Control, Premier One, The Pool Shop Group and Dirt Track Nutters. After two of six rounds, Kaiden Manders currently leads the Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series on 566 points, sitting twenty nine points clear of second placed Todd Waddell. Glen Mears holds down third place on 509 points while Alfonso Guadagnino and Lee Redmond round out the top five. The Speedcars busy month continues as this weekend will see the Perth Motorplex hosting the Magic Man 34/Speedcar Pro Series Round 1 on Saturday night, while Sunday night will see the second round of the Pro Series held at Manjimup Speedway. Stay tuned for all the latest details throughout the week and we will see you all at the track on Saturday! Release by DTN Media. All Pictures by FR Media. Official Results Speedcar Qualifying 1.
