Bruce Lee and His Interest in Hand Strength It was in the late 1960’s that I received a very polite, hand written, letter from a gentleman named... Bruce Lee. He said that he had come across my ad in the pages of Peary Rader’s Iron Man magazine. Although I was a big fan of The Green Hornet television series, of the day, it didn’t click. It wasn’t until years later that I discovered that, yes, this was THE Bruce Lee that played the part of the Green Hornet’s ever present chauffeur and bodyguard... Kato. Anyway, he said that he was interested in all types of different ways of getting as strong as possible, such as isometrics, body weight exercises, barbells, dumbbells, you name it, he was very open minded and willing to experiment with anything. But, most notably, he was VERY interested in developing his grip strength to the very maximum. Obviously, he was very successful based on the following feats of hand and arm strength: 1. One Hand Push-Ups using only the thumb and index finger! 2. Fifty One-Arm Chin-Ups! 3. A One Inch Punch of such devastating force, that it knock a person across the room! After I listed several publications that I had in stock at the time, he eagerly ordered everything I had including those on grip strength, a few of which were by strongmen such as Thomas Inch and George F. Jowett. Fortunately, these and other special grip training courses are still available today as a package called: The Classic Grip Courses Four individual training courses written exclusively on developing tremendous gripping power. Written by the expert strongmen of grip: Edward Aston, Michael H. Brown, Thomas Inch and George F. Jowett Go here and read more: superstrengthtraining/classic_grip_courses.html In addition, to learn how to do a one finger push-up as well as a one arm chin-up, order a copy of one of our all time best sellers: The Master Method of Health, Strength and Bodybuilding by David P. Willoughby and William F. Hinbern superstrengthtraining/david_willoughby.html This elaborate course provides a combination of bodyweight as well as dumbbell exercises for all around total body development. Until the next time, Yours for greater strength, Bill Hinbern P.S. Happy Birthday to Bruce Lee, he would have been 73 years of age today! P.S.S. Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of ones potential – Bruce Lee
