Brueggemann and Block discuss the voice of the “uncredentialed.” This is the voice that emerges from the line of authority to give voice against the power structures. They end the conversation with thoughts on the value of faith and friendship. Brueggemann begins by giving an overview of the dynasty of the kings in 1 & 2 Kings and how the prophet, Elisha, “interrupts the royal timeline of the narrative.” Yet, Elisha, says Brueggemann “has an incredible capacity to enact transformation.” How can being an “uncredentialed” person provide “the power of life” to a community? How can we be sensitive those voices outside the power structures of our society and our church?
