Bryan Smith has been selected as Owensboro High Schools Head Softball Coach!!! Smith brings years of valuable coaching experience to this position. During his 21-year career as a business education teacher at Owensboro High School, Smith has served in assistant coaching roles for OHS softball, baseball and football. “Our committee of athletic staff and parents were extremely excited to have selected Bryan for this position. He has a great relationship with our students and we look forward to seeing our softball program grow under his leadership,” said Anita Burnette, Owensboro High School Principal. “The rumor of the death of OHS softball has been greatly exaggerated. We are anxious and excited to get things going. I can’t predict wins and loses, but, what I can assure is that no one will accuse us of not working hard,” said Bryan Smith. Smith is a 1984 Graduate of Owensboro High School where he played on both the 1983 State Baseball and Football Championship teams. He later went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky. “As a successful former High School player and coach, Bryan embodies the passion, dedication and knowledge necessary to run an excellent softball program. I have known him since we were in the middle school together, and I’m confident OHS will have a championship program. Under his leadership and guidance, the sky is the limit, said David Johnson, OPS Chief Operating Officer.” “Owensboro High School is in the process of putting together a fantastic softball coaching staff for the upcoming season and I cannot think of a better person than Bryan to lead us in that initiative. He is a seasoned teacher, loves working with kids, and has a ton of leadership skills,” said Chris Gaddis, OPS District Athletic Director.
