Buddhism teaches that the 3 poisons of greed, anger and foolishness inherent in human life are the primary causes of our unhappiness. Buddhahood is the fundamental power of the universe that enables us to overcome these poisons; it is the highest and noblest state of life. And Buddhism explains that such a life condition exists in all people. In short, Buddhahood is a function of supreme compassion and wisdom, and the source of all life activity. The manifestation of Buddhahood empowers us to transcend the self that dominated and motivated by suffering and desire, and to establish our true selves. Summoning forth and establishing this state of being in our lives is the path to attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime, or the path to realizing absolute happiness. It is the ultimate goal of human revolution. What is the method for achieving this? Nichiren Daishonin embodied the great life-state of Buddhahood, which is one with fundamental Law of the universe, in the form of the Gohonzon for the sake of all people of the Latter Day of the Law. It is by believing in the Gohonzon and dedicating ourselves to the mission of working for the happiness of humanity that we are able to bring forth the Buddhahood within our own lives.
