Buddy, a lovely red, was surrendered by a private owner. He is a sweet-but-anxious fellow who did not live inside, but on a tie out in the yard. He has problems to overcome, but with experienced, gentle love and training, Buddy will blossom into a sweet companion. He is learning to approach foster mom for comfort and petting. He watches her every move. He is worried about foster dad, but will allow petting and pill giving by him if mom is helping. In foster care, Buddy has had only one urine mishap in the house when he was tried on free-roam. This is amazing since he has not been an inside dog, was recently neutered. He crates easily, and prefers a covered or dark crate. It takes Buddy a while to settle, as he is vigilant. He follows the resident dogs outside and inside, though at times foster mom has to go out to encourage him in. He gets along with the 3 resident females, has had a couple of scuffles with the male. Buddy does not seem to know how to play, or be certain of his name. We are working on walking on-lead, to come when called. He likes to be brushed, and the hair missing on his ear-tips is growing in with antibiotic treatment. Buddy needs a quiet home with a secure fencing: no tie-outs. No kids. He is accustomed to living with other dogs, and would do well with a peaceable dog. He is indifferent towards a cat. Buddy is most animated when barking at the activities in the neighborhood, especially bikes. These issues are all surmountable with gentle consistency and love!
