Bugs, Birds and Biodiversity On the 21st and 22nd of August, 3 - TopicsExpress

Bugs, Birds and Biodiversity On the 21st and 22nd of August, 3 year 9 students were selected to be part of the Bugs, Birds and Biodiversity programme. We learnt the importance of Biodiversity in our ecosystem. Ruud Kleinpaste aka The Bugman said that “Bugs rule this Earth not politicians and Prime Ministers.” With the Bugman we searched through plant and soil material for bugs, finding millipedes, flat worms and predator mites. We also observed Albatrosses, Stewart Island Shag and Seagulls flying, nesting or roosting and did our bit for the environment by pulling out weeds and planting Broadleaf. Thanks to Kids Restore New Zealand Environmental and Royal Albatross Centre for this fabulous opportunity Hamish Phillips, Sam Haig and Brock Anderson
