Buhari 2015: Who would be Buhari’s running mate to balance the political calculation and win the presidential ticket on February 14, 2015? By Abbati Bako,psc I have said it several times that politics is a game of mathematical calculation, strategy, planning and monopoly. Sometime, a little mistakes can sink your political plan strategy into eclipse. So, for APC party, care must be taken while designing and executing political strategy plan. A politician or political party must always code his/her political strategy plan; otherwise some political attaches are placed there near you to communicate/send your political plan intelligence information. THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATES FOR APC PARTY The six eminent persons has been mentioned or penciled down as potential running mates to the General Buhari: Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola, Rivers State Governor, Edo State Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Osun State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Also, former Lagos State attorney-general and commissioner for Justice Professor Yemi Osinbajo has also been mentioned as a potential Vice Presidential candidate for GMB 2015. THE S.W.O.T ANALYSIS OF THE SITUATION To start with the Governor Fashola of Lagos State; this potential politician has the political credentials/will to be the V/President to GMB considering his performances and recorded achievements in Lagos State. And based on that he has the political gravitational pull that will attract the between 70% to 85% of votes from the Southwest region for APC party in 2015 general elections. But the only threat and possible weakness that will hamper the possibility for Fashola to be the V/P candidate is his religious faith; being a Muslim (Muslim-Muslim ticket will be very difficult this time around). In this case the possibility for him to be the V/P in 2015 is very slim. The PDP party is waiting for the small opportunity to capitalize on; particularly religious issue. This is the same scenario or similar with the Governor of Osun State Rauf Aregbesola. In the case of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Edo State governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole or Rivers State Governor Ameachie; the possibility for them to get the V/P contest is difficult because they come from the battle ground areas for APC party and soft theorem areas for PDP party. Because, S/South and S/East political zones will overwhelmingly vote (80% or almost) for the current corrupt central government of PDP in 2015; for sectional and religious reasons. So, S/South and S/East are the weakest areas and little opportunity for APC party in 2015. And vast opportunity for PDP party. Therefore, selecting the V/P chair from the areas may not be possible;particularly they have only 19m registered voters compared to 51m registered voters of N/west, N/east and S/West out of 74.5m voters. But the former Lagos State attorney-general and commissioner for Justice Professor Yemi Osinbajo has also been mentioned as a potential Vice Presidential candidate for GMB 2015. His chances are wider than the rest mentioned above . Professor Osinbajo has been described by those close to him as a good man and balanced human being. He is also a radical man like GMB. The Professor of Law Osinbajo, research indicate that is a Christian faithful and a man of integrity, credibility and trust-worthiness.A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God. A professor of law, former Lagos State Commissioner for Justice/Attorney General and senior partner in Simmons Coopers, he has written two major books. He may emerge as Buhari’s running mate today.
