Buhari Vanguard Condemns The Bombing Targeted At Muhammadu Buharis Convoy And Other Places In Kaduna Today - by: Jasper Azuatalam - July 23, 2014 We received with shock the news of the twin bomb blast in Kaduna state today. What is more shocking is that the bomb blasts were targeted at popular Nigerian leaders, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, a leader of the All progressive Congress APC and Dahiru Bauchi, a popular Islamic cleric. In the second attack, three people among aides and security personnel attached to Gen Muhammadu Buhari were injured while their vehicles were destroyed. Muhammadu Buhari was on his way to Duara, his home town in a convoy when the bomb was detonated as the convoy approached a few meters to the bomb. Muhammadu Buhari, after suffering serious psychological trauma managed to escape unhurt and was rushed back home with a taxi cab from a good Samaritan as all the cars in his convoy were affected by the Bomb blast. The first bomb blast was reportedly targeted at a popular Islamic cleric, Dahiru Bauchi who was to deliver a Ramadan lecture in a Mosque at Murtala square. Many Nigerians have been reported to have died from both attacks, while many others have been injured and are receiving treatment in various hospitals. We are frightened that these attacks by suspected Boko Harram members have assumed a dangerous dimension and we fear that if this is not controlled immediately, our nation Nigeria may never recover from the negative results of this insurgence. If prominent Nigerians are no longer safe and cannot go about their normal duties, it will be horrible to imagine what the fate of the average Nigerian will be. We sincerely condole with the families of those who have lost their loved ones and we wish those who were injured quick recovery, but we think that these series of condolences from the government and national leaders have become embarrassing and need to be matched with physical actions that will bring this insurgence to an end immediately. One cannot help but imagine what would have been happening in Nigeria now if Gen Muhammadu Buhari and the popular Islamic cleric, Dahiru Bauchi were killed in these attacks today.
