Buhari promises social security Nigerian Tribune / 19 mins ago THE presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2015 elections, General Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to initiate social security for the unemployed in the country. Buhari also stated that, if voted into power, his government would stamp out unemployment in Nigeria as well as address the security problem plaguing the nation. Buhari made these promises while addressing party faithful at the Warri Township Stadium late evening on Wednesday where his nationwide campaign train berthed in Delta State to win voters’ confidence for the coming presidential election. According to the APC presidential candidate, “problems confronting Nigeria today are unemployment, insecurity, lack of health care and destruction of the nation’s infrastructures.” He vowed that there would be a departure from the past as “APC will engage competent Nigerians to lead the process of eradication of unemployment. and any Nigerian of 30 years and above who is unemployed for no fault of his will be placed on social benefit.” On the nation’s near comatose refineries, the APC presidential candidate said his government would ensure the “rehabilitation of the refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna to ensure cheap and steady fuel in Nigeria,” adding that agriculture would be given a productive boost to assist the eradication of unemployment and quality food sufficiency.” The APC presidential candidate was accompanied to Warri by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State; chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun and APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Chief O’tega Emerhor. Governor Oshiomhole, while addressing the crowd, expressed hope in Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Delta APC governorship candidate, to change the fortunes of the state as he has achieved in Edo State. Speaking shortly after Chief John Oyegun handed the APC flag to Emerhor, Oshiomhole said, “With Emerhor, Delta now has a chance to feel the change Edo State has been experiencing under APC. “The whole world is aware and convinced that we changed Edo. Delta can experience that change as well. All the people need to do is to support APC. Support Emerhor to take over Delta Government House come 2015.” Acknowledging the teeming party faithful, Emerhor said, “There is no going back with the wind of change across Nigeria and Delta in particular.” Meanwhile, a lot of the supporters angrily left the venue of the rally because of the late arrival of General Buhari and his entourage. Reacting, the Delta APC chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, attributed the delay to bad weather, noting that “the weather was not clear for our party leaders to fly to Warri.” Visit website
