Buhari will win 2015 and I believe most non-partisan analysts will support this view in the days to come. His candidacy is being propelled by four main forces: 1. Nigerians feel they should try another party. You must have noticed the way several incumbent reps were voted off the third-term ticket bids. The current general mood of voters is, give another person a chance in the saddle. If only for this reason, they will vote for Buhari. 2. His image has been improving consistently for the past one year or thereabout. and he has not peaked yet. He will continue in that trajectory until the election. You will agree with me that GEJ peaked a long time ago, maybe January last year and his stock began to trail off after Chibok. The recent collapse of the naira and the subsequent transfer of the economy to the Intensive Care Unit has not helped him too. 3. APC has just found fresh oxygen with this peaceful and decisive primaries. The party will rush forward with the momentum of a fully loaded 747 in full, four-engine thrust. The encouragement, the electricity and excitement is enormous and natural and will be very infectious. The party has a clear psychological advantage over the PDP which has suffered a major psychological blow as their official prophecy of APCs collapse has failed. In politics, that is a major loss of voters confidence: If they were wrong in that, who knows how many other things they could be wrong about will be the mood of PDPs non-partisan supporters. These will quietly decamp. 4. Buhari possesses enormous anti-corruption moral asset with a reputation of being personally honest. That is a rare quality for a prominent Nigerian in our time and Nigerians are bound to continue to be impressed by that and to seek to take advantage of it for national rebirth.
