Building Construction and Planning Update: The plans for Medill and Tallmadge are in the design development stage and are on schedule. The design development phase, which is the third of four phases, are scheduled to be completed for Medill on June 17th and for Tallmadge on July 3rd. The Medill planning team was provided an update on the plans on Monday while the Tallmadge planning team will be updated next Tuesday. For all buildings, the furniture package should be ready to advertise for bids by the end of June. Also, a list of upgrades was reviewed for inclusion in the buildings. The list includes 19 potential items that will be change orders for the phase I buildings and incorporated into the phase II building plans. These upgrade items include: a masonry enclosure around the mechanical courtyard to reduce sound, additional playground equipment for disabled students, additional security features, acoustic ceiling clouds in the student dining area, carpeting in the media center, and display cases and seats in the main entrance corridor. At Tarhe Trails, top soil continues to be stripped on the site. Mass excavation and moving of fill dirt will follow after the top soil is stripped. The site has been surveyed for the location of the water detention area to control water runoff from the site. The groundbreaking for TarheTrails is being postponed since Greencrest Way has not been extended to the school site. At Gorsuch West, earthwork continues with the cut and fill process, moving dirt from the bus parking area to the building pad. Trees continue to be cleared from the site. Silt fences are being installed around the site as the trees are cleared and the two water detention areas are being prepared to prevent water runoff from the site. At Mt. Pleasant, the exterior footings for the entire building are finished. The exterior load bearing masonry walls in the north area of the building are being built up to the first floor. Rough ins for plumbing and electric continue to be added as the walls are built. The temporary roads within the site are complete to allow contractors to access all areas of the site.
