Building Diverse and Sustainable Communities, will take place on Thursday the 16th of October between 1.30pm-4.00pm at Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast The NISMP Migration Policy Seminar Series seeks to create key links between public, NGO and academic sectors dealing with migration questions. We endeavour to create a neutral space discussion and debate on immigration and related topics and improve understanding between sectors on the creation of high impact policy research. This session will examine issues around community cohesion and increasing diversity. It will cover local issues facing communities where the population has or is changing in a short space of time, and how these can be addressed in both reactive and proactive ways. It will look at the role of diversity in creating economically and socially successful communities, as well as challenges with social cohesion, integration and community safety. It will examine integration and multiculturalism through a theoretical lens, provide best practice examples, and explore the role of social cohesion, good relations and racial equality frameworks in strong, safe and diverse communities. The event is free of charge and open to the public. If you are interested in attending, please contact Bethany Waterhouse-Bradley at [email protected]
