Building Global Leaders 2014, Speaker Series. Changing the World through Education Carme Chacón Piqueras March 20th, 2014 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Room 2151 Carme Chacon Piqueras, Spain’s first female Minister of Defense from 2008-2011, will be our guest presenter at the Building Global Leaders Speaker series. She will speak on the role education plays in personal, professional and political life especially in leadership positions and public service. Piqueras obtained a law Degree from the University of Barcelona and served as a professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Girona in Spain. She has held many key governmental positions including Vice President of Spain’s Parliament and Minister of Housing. Currently, Piqueras is a professor in residence at Miami Dade College and serves as a lecturer for MDC’s Office of International Education, The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives, and the Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy.
